What does «being lucky» really mean?

We often say that certain individuals are lucky when they seem to always come out on top when confronted with difficult problems. They are even lucky when things are going well because happy events continuously surround them that only increase their state of well-being. Why do these people have so much luck? Why them and not others?

Leave it to chance

There are many people that believe our destiny revolves around chance. Events therefore take place without any real cause and are totally unpredictable and inexplicable. We hear time and again that the luck of certain individuals is «due to chance». Yet how can chance, that by definition acts without rhyme or reason, always direct favourable events towards specific people?

If chance is not responsible, what is?

Everyone is capable of recognizing that phenomena are not left to chance, but are governed by precise rules, called the laws of nature. This knowledge is evidenced in science with all that is material. What we generally ignore is the fact that these laws equally govern the immaterial world, that is to say everything connected to our psychic life, hence the term spiritual laws designated to them. The happy or unhappy events of our life, or in other words our destiny, are not the result of luck or chance but the consequence of precise laws. Among these, exists the law of sowing and reaping.

We reap what we sow

This law works such that what we sow through our thoughts, words and deeds, inevitably returns to us, in this earth life or another. Therefore a person that sows evil will in turn reap situations where he becomes the object of evil deeds. The spiritual goal of this law of returns is to allow the person in question to have done unto him what he has done to others. This person can also become aware of the good or bad results associated with past decisions. When we are ignorant of this law we falsely attribute the unhappy turn of events in our life to chance, when in fact they are the result of the law of sowing and reaping at work on our past decisions. Likewise, what takes place on the negative side, takes place on the positive side.

Sowing goodwill produces a good harvest

Everything good that we sow returns to us, be it in our present earth life or in a subsequent reincarnation. Therefore a person who sows much good, will reap in kind. All of the happy events that come his way throughout his lifetime cause others to say that he is a lucky person. But it is not luck in the sense of chance or inexplicable happiness, but the natural and inevitable reaping of what he has sown. Consequently, sowing good makes us happy, makes us lucky.
